Weekly Recipe: Dad’s Sloppy Joes

I have never been a big fan of sloppy joes because it was a weekly meal in my elementary school cafeteria. That was until I came across this recipe which has a great taste and has been requested multiple times by the group of volunteers that I am working with. I am proud to have made an American meal that the German gal Alina enjoys so much! So here it is —

Ingredients —

1 pound of ground beef or turkey

1/2 to whole red onion

1/2 chopped bell pepper

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon ginger

1/2 teaspoon cayenne

1 teaspoon mustard

3/4 cup ketchup

3 teaspoons brown sugar

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Directions —

Brown the onion, bell pepper, and meat.

Stir in the garlic powder, ginger, cayenne, mustard, ketchup, and brown sugar.

It’s a pretty simple recipe and not to hard to mess up…
